Following the announcement on Sunday 10th May and further clarification on Monday the 11th of May, it has become apparent that open water swimming is now a recognised form of outdoor activity.
Swim England, RLSS and British Triathlon have all issued statements acknowledging this but they have advised that only competent swimmers take to the water given the temperatures and the fact that many of us will not be in our peak swimming shape following weeks out of the water.
Your safety is paramount to us and so we are looking at how we can implement safe social distancing.
We may run test sessions to ascertain how the sessions can run smoothly ahead of opening in full. We will also reevaluate our rescue practices.
We may also ask that you book and pay online ahead of coming so that we can monitor numbers and minimise contact.
Finally, in the short term, we may avoid communal areas such as the showers and changing rooms.
We are waiting for confirmation from the watersports centre that we can reopen and will keep you all updated.
Thanks for your patience and understanding. We're missing all of you and hope to get you back in the water as soon as is safely possible.
